Thermodynamic System

A small part of the universe to which applies the laws of thermodynamics. We call this subset a SYSTEM.

The thermodynamic system is analogous to the free bodydiagram to which we apply the laws of mechanics, (i.e.Newton’s Laws of Motion).

The rest of the universe outside the system close enough to the system to have some perceptible effect on the system is called the surroundings.

The surfaces which separates the system from thesurroundings are called the boundariesas shown in above fig (eg: walls of the kettle, the housing of the engine).

Basic's of Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics is the science of the relations between heat, Work and the properties of the systems.

Thermodynamics adopt these interactions to our benifit.

Go thru the below link and try to understand the basics of thermodynamics....

World of Mechanics....

Mechanics is the study of the way matter and forces interact with each other. Macroscopic bodies are that we can easily see, in the solid state.

Statics is a field within mechanics which concerns itself with forces when no change in momentum occurs.

Dynamics is a field concerned with forces and matter when a change in momentum does occur

Kinematics is a study of motion without regard to the forces present. It is simply a mathematical way to describe motion.
